THE life of a child thousands of kilometres away can be changed for as little as RM2 a day.

This the message that World Vision Malaysia, an international humanitarian organisation, is spreading through its This is My World Vision campaign.

The campaign features photographs taken by World Vision child sponsors during visits to the organisation’s programmes in various countries.

Among the photos on display were those taken by celebrity child sponsors such as former Miss Malaysia and World Vision children’s rights advocate Deborah Henry, Mix fm announcer Roshan, singers Dannell Lee, Francesca Peter and Nicholas Teo, Astro television host Siow Hui Mei and actress Lee Sinje.

Many of the photos focused on basic issues affecting children in poor communities including education, healthcare, lack of clean water and food as well as economic development.

They also highlighted the positive changes Malaysians had made to the lives of impoverished children through World Vision’s international child sponsorship programme.

“At World Vision, we believe that every child is precious and, if given the right tools, can attain the fullness of life which is their fundamental right.

Malaysians have done much to give thousands of children and their families a hand-up.

“This campaign is our way of demonstrating to our supporters and sponsors that their trust in us is bearing fruit,” World Vision Malaysia chief executive Liew Tong Ngan said.

The photo exhibition will be showcased at The Spring Shopping Mall in Kuching on Nov 4 to 7.
