PRESS RELEASE
(Kuala Lumpur 15th November 2005) The Young Malaysians Movement (YMM) is deeply honored to announce the appointment of the Prince of Karaoke, Nicholas Teo, as the “YMM Goodwill Ambassador”.
Since his appointment last year on September 22nd, 2004, YMM had attracted more than 3,000 young people to join YMM in its social work through Nicholas’ association with YMM.
Nicholas is diligent, humble and carries himself with a modest manner. He is a good example of a youth who has the qualities which young people could learn from and emulate.
YMM wishes to take this opportunity to thank Nicholas for his support where even though with his busy work schedule, he never forgets to show his care for society, especially in encouraging the younger generation to participate in social activities to mutually benefit both the youth and our society.
Presented by ING Insurance Berhad and organized by YMM and with Great Vision as the strategic partner and promotion partner Moon Design Studio, the “YMM YouthCares! Project” was implemented on October 13th. The goal of the “YMM YouthCares! Project” is to encourage more youths to participate in social work, strengthen the youth volunteer training, and leading youths in the participation of volunteerism at the international level.
To successfully implement the project, YMM would comprehensively promote the “YouthCares!” and “YouthExcel!” series. These programmes will inculcate a caring society and at the same time, bring professionalism to volunteerism through training programmes.
To kick start the “YMM YouthCares! Project” and to spearhead the building of a loving and caring culture for our society, YMM together with the kind and generous support of ING Insurance Bhd, is bringing thirty (30) children from the House of Joy on a day trip to the Zoo Negara today.
ING Insurance Bhd’s participation in the nationwide 2006 YMM “YouthCares!” project firmly underlines the company’s support of programmes that benefit the community where the company does business in.
Said Rien Hermans, Executive Vice President, Retail Financial Services, “We intend to mobilize the support of our agents and employees as volunteers in the upcoming YouthCares activities to reach out to all Malaysians. Our company has a very strong corporate social responsibility agenda globally and believes in contributing to the sustainability of the community where we operate to make their lives worth more.”
He added that with YMM’s Ambassador Nicholas Teo, as the tour guide for the children on their trip to the zoo would surely be an enjoyable and unforgettable day together for all. In addition, Nicholas presence and support will certainly attract more Malaysian youths to participate in the volunteer activities of the “YMM YouthCares! Project” to build a loving and caring society in Malaysia.
YMM and its sponsors and partners are indeed grateful for Nicholas' support and leading role in the youth work movement. His support is certainly an inspiration for us and all Malaysian youths, and will continue to be a source of motivation for us in our social activities in the country, Asia, and at the international level!
